This week’s “American Idol” theme is inspirational songs. The seven remaining contestants will be mentored this weekend by Alicia Keys. They’ll perform their song choices on Tuesday. The inspirational theme carries over with Wednesday’s “Idol Gives Back” concert.
Idol Gives Back, the historic Emmy Award-winning television event and music celebration has raised more than $140 million to benefit charities around the world and across the United States.
The two-hour fundraising event will return to FOX on Wednesday at 8/7c. Beneficiaries for this year’s event include Children’s Health Fund, Feeding America, Malaria No More, Save the Children’s U.S. Programs and the United Nations Foundation.
This year’s special will feature performances and appearances by some of Hollywood’s biggest stars as well as a few surprises. Alicia Keys, Carrie Underwood, the Black Eyed Peas, Annie Lennox, Mary J. Blige, Elton John, and Justin Bieber are among the performers.

Kitty Kelley’s Unauthorized Oprah Bio: inside scoop
Kitty Kelley’s unauthorized Oprah bio claims the talk-show host lied about her poor upbringing and fabricated stories of being sexually abused to increase her ratings. Katherine Carr Esters, one of Oprah’s cousins, says, “Where Oprah got that nonsense about growing up in filth and roaches I have no idea. I’ve confronted her and asked, ‘Why do you tell such lies?’ Oprah told me ‘that’s what people want to hear. The truth is boring.’”
Unfortunately for Kitty, in deference to Oprah, most talk shows aren’t booking her. And more… among the scoop is that Oprah’s dad, Vernon Winfrey, isn’t her biological father. That tidbit came from Oprah’s cousin Katharine Carr Esters. However, she swore Kelley to secrecy, so we never find out who Oprah’s real father is. As for Vernon, he says of his daughter: “She may be admired by the world, but I know the truth. So does God and so does Oprah. Two of us remain ashamed.” That nugget in the book about the affair with John Tesh is true, but it’s old news as the two even talked about it on her show one time. Kelley does address the ‘gay’ rumors, but concludes that Oprah is asexual and is totally focused on her career. Naturally, Oprah isn’t commenting other than to say she heard that 850 people were interviewed for the book and that she found it odd since she doesn’t know 850 people. Actually, most of those people are former employees, who may have violated their confidentiality agreements.
JON WANTS TO REUNITE WITH KATE
Jon Gosselin is ready to reunite with Kate on TV.
The one-time reality dad says he’s “definitely open” to doing a new show with his ex, but only “under the right circumstances,” TMZ reports.
Meanwhile, Jon’s lawyer says his client would “love to settle” his latest legal dispute with Kate. Jon has filed papers seeking primary custody of their eight children. (We’re sure the two have nothing to do with one another.) Kate, however, already has a new reality show called Twist of Kate in the works.
‘Idol Gives Back’ Holding Online Auction
The auction for the “Idol Gives Back” fundraiser is now online. Up for bid are two tickets to the “American Idol” Season 9 finale on May 26th. A meet-n-greet with Simon Cowell goes with it. There’s also a package for next season that includes a seat at every performance and results show from the Top 10 through the May 2011 finale. You can also get a private singing lesson from Kara DioGuardi and Randy Jackson. Check it out at www.idolgivesback.org. “Idol Gives Back” will air April 21st on Fox.

I am no stranger to Syracuse radio. Growing up in Camillus and a graduate of West Genesee High School. I attended University College, Newhouse School of Communications, and OCC. Over the years I had opportunities to move on however I decided to stay close to CNY to be near my children. I am remarried to a beautiful lady, Nancy and we reside in North Syracuse. For years I have been on air in many different dayparts in many different radio stations. Most recently at Clear Channel’s B104.7 where I was the Assistant to the Program Director and music director. Currently I am MOViN’s Program Director. I also own Skip Clark Entertainment. Recently awarded the Brides Choice Award for outstanding service! Proud to say I am one of CNY’s leading Wedding and Party DJ’s. I am the proud father of Zachary Clark who is Down syndrome, and I am very active in the Down syndrome Assoc. of CNY and the Childrens Miracle Network to mention a couple! Most interesting job was a Zamboni operator at the Camillus rink. I am happy to be working mornings with a great talented woman Heather! Hi there… I started out my radio career while attending SUNY Brockport, at a station in Rochester, WPXY. I began as an intern for both the morning show and in promotions. Eventually got a paid postion within the promotions department and has been my forte ever since. When I moved back to Syracuse, I not only worked in radio around town but also decided to take classes at Bryant & Stratton to further my web skills and graphic design. I came over to MOViN in January of 2007 to do a number of things within the office but left in ’08 to explore other opportunities. But when the opportunity arose to come back and do the morning show and promotions, I couldn’t say no. I absolutely LOVE what I’m doing! I work with Skip who not only is a great mentor but an awesome friend (and shall I say “work companion”)… Together we make a great team!
Some of my favs: 80′s hair bands, laughing, margaritas, pictures, SU bball, camping, rainbow cookies, jet skiing, Blue Moon with an orange slice, cliches & catchphrases, singing in cars, live music, Home Network tv, water no lemon, road trips, reality shows, movie quoting, fishing, new recipes, dancing, puppies (but I can’t leave out my lovely cat Julius), rollercoasters, shopping, and of course my friends, family and BF… and did I mention I’m one heck of a DERBY GIRL!
